Statement by Richard S. Williamson, President Bush’s Special Envoy to Sudan, June 26, 2008

We call the attention of the Government of Sudan to the steps taken by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) today. The Government of Sudan can also make this same determination to work with the international community by changing its behavior and working with the United Nations and its partners for the betterment of the people of Sudan. While the specific issues facing Sudan and the DPRK are different, President Bush's commitment that 'actionable steps for actionable steps' will be taken by the United States reaffirms that we will not rely on mere assurances from a Government with a long trail of broken promises.
